Gopal Mandir, also known as Dwarkadhish Temple, is the second-largest temple in Ujjain after Mahakaleshwar. It is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is located in the main market of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
The temple was built in the 19th century by Bayaji Bai Shinde, the wife of Maratha King Daulatrao Shinde, in the Maratha style. Ujjain is about 65 km from Indore.
Inside the temple, there is a two-foot-tall statue of Lord Krishna made of marble and covered in silver. The temple also has idols of Lord Shiva, Parvati, and Garuda. Janmashtami and Harihar Parva are celebrated here with great joy.
The temple’s doors were once stolen by Mahmud of Ghazni but were later restored by Mahadji Shinde.
